Low Shoulder is an independent record label located in Chicago, IL. I was responsible for designing both the website and logo and creating a comprehensive design system for the website.
Close collaboration with our client ensured that our research efforts aligned with their objectives and project vision. This early alignment laid the groundwork for a UX design that met and surpassed their expectations.
I researched record labels that produced work relevant to the client's potential roster. The competition had design styles that were nonconventional and dynamic.
The competitive analysis provided a foundation for understanding the typical content offered by most record label websites. I then created a mind map to visualize logistics and the main goals for the website.
I understood where I wanted the design of the website to go but I wanted to start working on the logo to tie in the brand before anything was built.
I had creative freedom in developing these designs and wanted it to be cohesive with the brand "Low Shoulder". I presented the client with three design options along with a favicon.
Using the competitive analysis as a basis, I crafted wireframes of key pages (Home, Artist, Roster, and Contact).
These represent the primary pages in the Hi-fi prototype.
With the specifications from the design system in hand, the subsequent phase involves bringing the website to life for my client.
